Discover the history of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce worn fabric and repair textiles, and learn its fundamentals through hands-on practice. Participants will create and stitch Sashiko samplers while gaining an appreciation for the cultural roots of this enduring mending tradition during this workshop and will be provided with extra materials and patterns to bring home.

This course is open to people of all skill levels, and all necessary mending supplies will be provided. 

About the Instructor:

Mariko Sugimori of Mona & Zoe  Mending  explores visible repair through kintsugi and textile mending, drawing from her experience repairing items for friends and neighbors. She is passionate about making mending a meaningful and accessible practice, both in her own life and within the broader community.

This workshop is part of our Small Format Workshop Series which is designed to be small and intimate. We limit the attendance to just 10 people so everyone receive personalized attention and have a supportive and community oriented learning experience.
