Our Story
My name is Trang and I am the Founder of Green Tiger & Co.
In 2016, I saw a video of researchers pulling a plastic straw out a turtle's nose. I was horrified! I didn't know something seemingly so innocent could bring so much devastation to wildlife. At that time, the zero-waste movement was gaining momentum, I was learning so much about our impact on the environment, and started to discover eco-friendly alternatives and reducing waste in my everyday life. I thought I really could make a difference.
Despite my best efforts, there were times I felt hopeless and overwhelmed by the scale of the problem. Then Covid-19 came and the isolation forced me to live slower. It gave me time to reflect and rediscover the simple joys like baking and gardening. I realized that this sustainable lifestyle should bring joy and inspiration, not judgment or competition. Anne Marie Bonneau, a zero-waste chef and author, said, "We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly." This resonated deeply with me and became my inspiration.
Fast forward to 2023, I started to dream up a place where it's easy and engaging to discover zero-waste and eco-friendly products, a place where you can find goods that are made with deep intention and appreciation for the people and the planet. The items would reflect the craftsmanship from the artisans and the communities they support. And just as important, this place would welcome everyone regardless of where they are in their sustainable journey.
From this vision created by a deep love and appreciation for the people, community, and planet, Green Tiger & Co. was born.
