This kitchen cloth is crafted from a heavyweight mesh fabric known as Kaya, traditionally used in Japan for mosquito netting. Initially stiff due to a starch coating, the cloth softens significantly after its first rinse in lukewarm or cold water—be prepared for a bit of shrinkage! Once washed, it transforms into a soft, fluffy towel that dries quickly and absorbs efficiently.
The playful dog illustration is by artist and chef Naoko Nakanishi, known for her Japanese "traveling restaurant" named Tabby Cat Bonbon.
